  • What I really hate about Modern Warfare 2
    By on February 18th, 2010 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

This is getting ridiculous and I’m getting fed up with this whole scoring system. I’m not sure if its just me or this happens to basically everyone that plays on PSN. The connection is pretty bad half the time, I constantly get disconnected from games and games that always need to find new hosts. All that I can ignore but I don’t like the fact that it counts as a lost.

I can understand if the player leaves the game by actually selecting the option in the menu, that is considered a lost. But why on earth would you treat that the same when the game ends prematurely? I’m sure the developers should be able to code the game in such a way that it can differentiate between a user leaving the game by choosing the option and a game that just died due to bad connections.

I don’t want to sound like a stats whore but I find it uber unfair that my score is messed up because of this stupid system. And also the fact that I seem to attract noobs to fight along side with me makes the situation (my score) even worse.

    Ok I’m done venting….

  • Mass Effect 2 – Subject Zero, finally a charact...
    By on January 11th, 2010 | 3 Comments3 Comments Comments

Gametrailers has been releasing Mass Effect 2 narrative trailer for the characters for a while. All of them are impressive but this one in particular caught my eye and I just couldn’t stop watching over and over again. I’ve never seen such a character with such a unique and lively attitude! Subject Zero’s narrative trailer, dare I say, one of the best trailers / teasers I have evern seen to date. You can’t go wrong with ultra pissed off bald chick right?

This game will be released on Jan 26, 2010, just a bit more than 2 weeks to go for all you Xbox owners!

Sigh, sometimes I do wish I had an Xbox…..

  • More video game related violence
    By on December 16th, 2008 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

The incident actually happened a year ago but trial opened just Monday. According to Cleveland.com Daniel Petric shot both his parents, killing his mother and left his father badly injured. The reason for this senseless shooting? Halo 3. His father didn’t allow Daniel to purchase Halo 3 due to its violent nature. He then sneaked out of his house and got it even though he was not allowed to. The game was taken away as soon as Daniel returned home after purchasing it and was locked in his father’s lockbox where he also had a handgun locked inside. A month later, Daniel got the lockbox’s key, unlocked the box and retrieved both the game and the handgun. Then you could of imagined what happened next. He shot them.

Daniel’s lawyer said he “had been under great stress at the time of the shooting”. I don’t think that’s an excuse for shooting anyone, let alone shooting your own parents, over a game or anything. I feel sorry for his parents and family but not himself because I think he should have known better and what made it worse was the fact that he tried to make it look like “a murder-suicide” by placing the gun back to his father’s hand.

Kids these days are so addicted to video games that they will do anything in order to play. These kids need to realize there is more to just video gaming.

I bet Jack Thompson would have said something about this if he wasn’t “permanently disbarred by the Florida Supreme Court “. I’m still happy that he got what he deserved. :)

  • Introducing the Evil Controllers – EVIL!
    By on December 10th, 2008 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

Evil Controllers brings you the best possible rapid fire gaming controllers for many of the most popular first person shooters for your Xbox 360. There are many advantages you can gain when playing with these evil controllers. Pretty evil I would say. :)

Evil controllers claim to have “THE ONLY UNDETECTABLE XBOX 360 RAPID FIRE COD5 CONTROLLER ON THE MARKET” as some of you may have already heard about the recent patch that was released to eliminate the rapid fire until EC here came out with the all new Call OF Duty 5 Rapid Fire Controller for all you COD 5 fans. The site also claims this newly developed COD 5 controller “is 100% undetectable and it does NOT slow down automatic weapons!”. There are three versions of the controller, basically the cheapest one has a button that toggles the rapid fire on and off at the lower back side of the controller (its harder to use relatively, and thus the cheapest), the second one having the button at the back side as well but at an easier to reach area. The last and the most expensive of all does not have the button at all where you can toggle the rapid fire feature on and off by the secret two button combination.

For Halo 3 fans, the Halo 3 Rapid Fire Controllers are perfect for all your evil doings. There are also five different versions similar to the COD 5 controllers depending on how much you can afford.

If you want ridiculous advantage over everyone else, you have to get these sick controllers!

  • Fallout 3 vs The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – g...
    By on November 22nd, 2008 | 4 Comments4 Comments Comments

Fallout 3 has been released for almost a month now and having just finished the game last night I thought I would write my thoughts about this game instead of an actual review. Oh by the way I actually finished the game a little too fast, I still have tons of unexplored places and quests to check out I just didn’t expect to end so fast. Still, I would say I have spent more than 20 hours by going through some of the sub quests along the way.

Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, Fallout 3 is really similar to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion except this time the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States in the year 2277 instead of in the medieval time. So you will be fighting your way through using guns most of the time and occasionally melee weapons like swords, sledgehammer and baseball bats. Graphicwise, while Oblivion looked amazing I think its safe to say that Fallout 3 looks even better because I can really feel I’m in a post-apocalyptic world with almost everything in rubbles, ashes and more than 50% of the time you will be exploring underground places. I don’t see why it shouldn’t be anyway given one was released more than 2 years ago.

Let’s forget about the graphics for a second, I still prefer Fallout 3 over Oblivion because of the time period the story takes place. I much prefer modern to future than going back in time and also prefer guns over magic. So if you don’t have these preferences and you have played Oblivion before then its pretty safe to say you will like Fallout 3 for sure. What I also like about Fallout 3 is the fact that there’s a VAT System which allows you to aim at specific body parts, it also tells you the percentage of success. At first when I saw the trailers demonstrating this system I thought it was going to be an overpowered feature. I can assure you its not because using the system will drain your AP (Action Points) so you can’t really use it again and again over a short period of time without replenishing your AP by using AP healing items. Normally you will have to wait for AP to naturally replenish itself. It might be a bit of an overpowered feature if you are playing on very easy to easy mode. When you are playing in harder difficulties you will need this feature when fighting against multiple enemies.

So I guess my point really boils down to whether you are into this time period or not, provided you played and actually liked Oblivion. Fallout 3 is a must for you if you liked it and either have no preference or are into modern-future time period and/or you prefer guns over magic.

I hope this little article will help you in deciding whether to get this game or not. And I always wonder if there will be a MMO version of either Oblivion or Fallout in the future.

  • Halo Wars – something I wish the PlayStation 3 ...
    By on October 4th, 2008 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

Gametrailers.com has just released this amazing 3+ minutes long movie clip, probably an intro or some cut scenes? The clip is really realistic and tells the story behind Halo Wars, which is the first RTS or real time strategy game of the series. I am very happy that they have decided to come up with something different other than yet another Halo first person shooter, not that I’m bashing the games mind you. I just think that this release will attract more gamers, specifically the RTS gamers to the Halo series as well.

Unfortunately this game is for XBox360 only and maybe for the PC as well. PlayStation 3 users will either have to drool over it, like me. Or get yourself the XBox360 or hope the game will come out for PC.

In the mean time, check this 3+ minutes long movie clip out from Gametrailers.com

  • Tomb Raider: Under World Trailer
By on August 18th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

The first Tomb Raider was released in 1996 and it was a big hit for the PC. Another chapter of Lara Croft is coming in a few months, November based on Gametrailers.com. This is one of those must get games. So far with two trailers, I can see the new game offers, as you can imagine, much better graphics, somewhat Uncharted-ish since both are rather similar type of game where you explore different places, but of course Tomb Raider being the more original. But I cannot comment anymore without seeing more actual game plays.

For now please drool over a more recent trailer or check out the HD version at Gametrailers.com.

  • Classic 1942 turns 3D – 1942: Joint Strike demo
By on August 14th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

As soon as I saw 1942: Joint Strike demo on PSN, I downloaded it immediately. 1942 was and still is one of the most addicting war plane shooter games of all time. Its simply classic. The remake is in 3D and the graphics are just so crisp and sharp. Back then when the plans blow up, it was just a simple blow up image, now the planes actually break into pieces and disappear.

In terms of game play, like I said, its just as addictive as the classic version, it also has stunning graphics. You have more ways of blowing up your enemies now. You have this new shooting mode where you hold the shoot button, it will fire a stronger shot like from the yet another classic plane shooter called R-Type in addition to the classic shooting mode but I didn’t find that new mode effective. Aside from normal shooting, you will have the bombs that will basically wipe out anything on the screen. Missiles is also another new weapon where, if I remember correctly, you get to use them by shooting down enemies. And finally, instead of getting killed in one shot, this version of 1942 features a life bar instead, life bars are nothing new to plane shooters but its a nice addition.

The demo features one quick level, as you can guess, there will be a boss at the end of the level. The memories of playing the classic version just came back to me when I had to dodge all over the place just to not get hit by the many bullets just fly towards you. It was amazingly fun!

I highly recommend this game for those that find plane shooters addictive. With better graphics and game play, 1942: Joint Strike is worth every $9.99USD/CAD that you are going to pay for! I might even get the full version later. :)

If you want to look for a copy of the original 1942 on NES, I’ve found some on eBay.
