    starcraft 2 on youtube

So I haven’t been updating my blog for almost a month now due to work and work on the side (graphic design). Aside from that I’m also pretty addicted to HD Starcraft on YouTube. Its like watching TV series, once you start you cannot stop until you have finish all the episodes or until there are no more new episodes left.

Fortunately though, HD Starcraft has been doing commentating the original Starcraft games for more than a year ago so I’ve got tons of games to catch up. Watching the original Starcraft games just brough back so many memories (I actually reinstalled Starcraft just because of these YouTube videos). As I am writing this up, I am watching one of his one month old videos right now! His videos, as his name suggested are of high definition, specially after YouTube started supporting full 1080p HD quality videos. Though I only watch them in 480p on my computer which I think is clear enough.

So if you guys are as hyped up about Starcraft 2 as me, I strongly suggest you to take a look at his YouTube channel!

  • StarCraft 2 to be sold as 3 seperate standalone games
By admin on October 13th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Blizzard has decided to release StarCraft 2 as 3 seperate standalone games to provide the best possible gaming experience to the gamers. The game, or the games rather, will consist of the usual 3 races – Terran, Zerg and Protoss. The first game will be Terrans: Wings of Liberty, as Blizzard’s Rob Pardo stated, the second and third games will be sort of expansions to the first game which are called Zerg: Heart of the Swarm and Protoss: Legacy of the Void.

I still have no idea why and what’s the point of chopping the game into pieces. How will this make the game more enjoyable? I can only see right now that Blizzard can charge the main game 49.99 and then 19.99 for each expansion, in the end you are paying more than you normally would. I can only come up with one possible answer to this, Blizzard wants to fit more content onto each disc. But even if the first game, the non-expansion one, maxed out the entire disc I highly doubt the so called expansion discs will contain as much because otherwise they won’t be expansions.

Update: Oct 14 – So the reason for having a trilogy is because the story is so big it has to be chopped into 3 seperate games. So each one will be $50, in order to get the full story you need to fork out $150+ (due to tax). And chances are if you buy the first, you will want to buy the other two.

  • Halo Wars – game play trailers not too impressed
By admin on October 5th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Speaking of the devil! I recently just wrote something about Halo War’s cinematic trailer from Gametrailers.com that made me drool all over and wish I had an XBox360. Two more game play trailers were released a few hours ago and let’s just say after watching the all impressive cinematic trailer, the actual game play didn’t really live up to my expectation. I mean the graphics are ok, the buildings and vehicles are pretty detailed actually. But the “play” feel is kind of dull and somewhat boring.

I think Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Starcraft 2 are looking more promising than Halo Wars. Maybe some games are just better off to be first person shooter only than a real time strategy game.

    What do you think?

Here are the two game play trailers from Gametrailers.com:

  • Halo Wars – something I wish the PlayStation 3 will have.
    By admin on October 4th, 2008 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

Gametrailers.com has just released this amazing 3+ minutes long movie clip, probably an intro or some cut scenes? The clip is really realistic and tells the story behind Halo Wars, which is the first RTS or real time strategy game of the series. I am very happy that they have decided to come up with something different other than yet another Halo first person shooter, not that I’m bashing the games mind you. I just think that this release will attract more gamers, specifically the RTS gamers to the Halo series as well.

Unfortunately this game is for XBox360 only and maybe for the PC as well. PlayStation 3 users will either have to drool over it, like me. Or get yourself the XBox360 or hope the game will come out for PC.

In the mean time, check this 3+ minutes long movie clip out from Gametrailers.com
