  • Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 – AC-130 failed

    Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 - AC-130 failed
So Gametrailers post this “AC-130 Massacre Gameplay” and ironically I think this is a massacre for the game, well at least this AC130 part. Although I am a Call of Duty fan, by all means I am not a fan boy since I do have a fair share of negative feedbacks for it. But let’s not go back there again.

So I was not too impressed with the way you get to rain fire from the AC-130, I didn’t hear any reload at all from its cannon like in the Call of Duty version. That alone was enough for me to say no to this game. The sound effect is just isn’t there, even the ones that I could barely hear weren’t engaging enough. The whole thing resulted in a very boring game play in my opinion.

And as for the actual flight mode where you get to fly other figher jets, well, let’s just say after playing the demo over the weekend, I still prefer the Ace Combat series.

This is from Modern Warfare 2:

  • Vanquish – Will this be another SEGA hit?
    By on September 3rd, 2010 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

Bayonetta was good, I personally thought it was much better than Devil May Cry. This week, the demo for SEGA’s upcoming third person shooter Vanquish, was out and I finally had a chance to try it out. First impression, wow, got to love the demo they picked for us. It is the one that Gametrailers has posted before. You get to fight the ginormous robot boss for this demo, which is basically the majority of the demo. I really love that battle suit (forgot the name of it) of the character you are controlling. The gun can morph into 3 different modes – shotgun, heavy machine gun and assault rifle that shoots quicker than the heavy gun. Only complain here is I wish the guns were louder, that’s it.

I love a lot of things about this game, huge boss, huge drop ships for you to shoot in the demo and you can make your character Tom to have a smoke in the middle of a gun fight. What more can you ask for? The third person system is pretty much the same as other ones so regular third person shooters will feel right at home. Remember Max Payne and its bullet time slow mo? Well its also in Vanquish (I’m sure there are other games that have bullet time), only this time you don’t need to fill up any meter to activate it, it will activate as soon as you are about to die, which opens up a few seconds for you to shoot your way out of harm.

The demo didn’t really let me do the power slide move (or maybe I’m just a noob and haven’t figured out how) which I don’t like, it looks kind of weird to be power sliding your way to cover. It reminds me of what soccer players do when they score goals, they do a power slide in front of the fans.

So after playing this short but sweet demo of Vanquish, I’m half sold. The only hold back right now is the fact there is no online component to it as mentioned in Destructoid. So I might actually wait a bit for this one until the price by half or something. I’m thinking of buying Bioshock 2 since the price has dropped to 29.99 and PLUS it has multiplayer, not that I want to play it though.

  • Metal Gear Solid: Rising – Will it better than ...
By on June 14th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

I think I’ve just wet my pants while watching this trailer of the next Metal Gear Solid game, Metal Gear Solid: Rising. This time it won’t be a third person stealth action though and instead be more of a third person action (at least based on the trailer) with my beloved MSG character Raiden slashing the enemies. Raiden is looking cooler than ever, sort of his original look mixed with super saiyan from Dragon Ball series.

Unlike Star Wars: Force Unleashed’s light sabers, Raiden’s blade will actually let you cut or slice up your enemies the way you want. Thank you Konami for actually making this a realistic experience.

I’m all hyped up for this game right now!

  • When Blair Witch mixes with Naughty Bear

Naughty Bear and Blair Witch Project
Naughty Bear, coming out in June, is generating quite some hype among gamers. So far it has released a few trailers/teasers on Gametrailers.com. I think this one in particular is the best of all. What do you get when you mix The Blair Witch Project with Naughty Bear? You get Bear Witch Trailer. After watching it for the second time, it really made me want to find another copy of the old Blair Witch Project game (I lost my original a long time ago).

  • Hilarious Just Cause 2 flying people glitch

LMAO, this is one funny glitch from Just Cause 2. Just like one of the commentors said, this also reminds me of 2008′s The Happening where people mysteriously fall from the sky. This is one glitch that I won’t get tired of experiencing!

  • Dead Space 2 – 30 second game play teaser
By on March 31st, 2010 | No Comments Comments

Oh look what I’ve found, a short but sweet Dead Space 2 game play teaser. Though its only 30 seconds, it’s 30 seconds of sweetness. If I completed the first game 4 times (it was that good!) I hope the sequel will be even better than the first. Don’t let us down EA!

  • My take on Final Fantasy 13

    final fantasy 13 review
I haven’t been updating my blog for a while, nothing game related at least. That’s because I have been spending most of my play time on Final Fantasy 13. One of the most anticipated games of 2010 and for many years. So far I have invested more than 50 hours of my life to this game. Then after reading comments from other gamers about how Square Enix got rid of towns and no more experience points to gain screwed the whole series up. Are the changes really that bad?

To be honest, it took some time to get used to, specially the new battle system. Though its still time-based, you can only control one character now and if that character dies its game over. What’s new is something called Paradigm Shift which allows you to setup the role for each of the 3 team members. Some gamers mentioned this system introduced a lot more button mashing than before. I actually disagree, I think its actually less button mashing since you can’t even control the other two characters.

I thought getting rid of the towns was a bad idea too, you don’t have a spot to purchase your equipments and items anymore. In FF13 you will be doing your shopping through the save point as well as upgrading/dismantling your weapons. I found this new feature works quite well and I don’t really miss the fact that towns are gone, well mostly. What you call towns are now nothing but part of the linear path you have to go through. Dialogue pops up when you walk near NPCs, be it in text and just audio without popup subtitles.

I also disagree with the fact that the abscence of experience points eliminated level grinding. We have the CP points, similar to those from Final Fantasy 12. You can still grind or harvest more CP points and max out all your characters roles. Just a different name but the grinding is definitely still there. Though what I don’t like about Final Fantasy 13 is the fact that you really can’t grind much until late in the game, I’ve started my real griding in the second last chapters. There was no point getting your characters to the top because the first half of the game was relatively easy.

Another thing I missed is traveling by air, there are so many airships shown during the cut scenes and full CG scenes but we never get to fly one like we used to.

Anyway, overall I think this game is still well worth the full price. Just because a few of the classic features are gone doesn’t mean it will be a bad game. Though its not perfect, Final Fantasy 13 is still an AAA game in my book.

ps I love Fang. Not only is she the strongest of all, physically, she also looks good. She’s like a combination of Asian, European and American. Yea basically all races combined. Yes, she is hot. There I said it!

  • That’s it, I am officially a noob magnet in Mod...
By on February 20th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

I guess my previous whining didn’t help much, I am more annoyed than ever. I now always end up on the losing team, always stuck with a bunch of noobs that do not seem to have an idea of how to play this game properly. All they do is rush out and get shot from all directions. Why do I deserve this? My winning ration was 1.35 yesterday and now I am struggling with a 1.31 because I have lost basically every game today, be it a real lost with noobs on my team or one of those annoying disconnects.

But what annoys me the most is the fact that I am always the only one with a decent score, well most of the time. The rest of my team would just contribute points to the other team by dying. It really felt like its me against the other 13 players instead of 6 on 6. If my team was able to contribute a bit more towards winning I would have no problem losing, at least we tried and the game was fair. In my case it was just pure slaughter by the opposing team.

Maybe I should just take a break and stop playing Modern Warfare 2 for a while. Let myself cool down a bit. Then again, what difference does that make? I will still be the only one, most of the time, with a positive kill / death ratio. What’s the point?

I have never been so upset in my life over a game, never happened with the original Modern Warfare.
