  • Well looks like Duke Nukem Forever blew it
    By admin on June 15th, 2011 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

I’m glad I forgot to buy Duke Nukem Forever on Tuesday after reading the review from IGN which gave it a jaw dropping 5.5/10. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by the result after watching this multiplayer trailer from GameTrailers. It looked like a really generic shooter and it just didn’t feel like the good old Duke Nukem. The single player story might be entertaining but I can’t justify paying $69.99 + tax just for single player because I value the multiplayer aspect of a game a lot.

I’m just sad that after 10 years of waiting and the hype generated throughout, went to waste. I felt like they rushed it out because they knew the fans had been waiting and the developers didn’t want to wait any longer. Instead of rolling out with something similar to StarCraft 2 status, which also came out 10 years after the first game, Duke Nukem Forever blew it.

Hopefully not forever as the game name suggested. Hopefully there will be another one coming out that’s done properly. One that retains the old humor and game play with next generation game elements. For now I would just bring out the old Duke Nukem 3D in the mean time while we wait yet again for Duke Nukem to return. This one just didn’t do it.

  • This is what all game companies should do – FREE DLC
By admin on January 18th, 2011 | No Comments Comments

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Animus Project Update 2.0

Why can’t more game companies be like Ubisoft? Why can’t they make us gamers happier and stop milking us to death? After all, we are the ones keeping them alive. Look at the DLCs for the Modern Warfare series, they (Treyarch) recently said they have listened to the fans and created DLC maps for us, well I guess they didn’t listen hard enough. We said it many many times we didn’t want and we still don’t want to pay for the DLCs, especially rehashed maps like the ones from Modern Warfare 2 DLC.

Keeping your fans happy goes a long way game companies and Ubisoft is doing the right thing. Good job Ubisoft for releasing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Animus Project Update 2.0 for FREE!

Battlefield Play4Free looks pretty promising even though it doesn’t have the best graphics but doesn’t mean it will be a bad game. So far based on the trailer, I am more than convinced the game will be worth playing on PC until I get a new PS3 next year. Yes, mine overheated (yellow light of death) again for the second time and died a total of 3 times with the first one being the Blu-ray control board dead.

I’ve already paid $180 to Sony to fix the control board issue, then another $90 to resoldered the board for the first overheat. I am not going to pay another $90 just to have it resoldered and get it fried again. I might as well accept the fact that I bought a lemon. There is no chance in hell I am going to fork out money to fix this, I’ve already forked out enough to buy a new one almost.

    So what’s the point?

One reason I believe its a lemon is the fact that, the second overheat happened after 2 games of Call of Duty, don’t tell me the console will overheat after 2 games which lasted for less than 20 minutes. My friend joked its probably because the game got to intense. I laughed out loud.

  • Forget about H.A.W.X 2, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon FTW!

    Ace Combat: Assault Horizon FTW

So that H.A.W.X 2 AC-130 trailer failed pretty badly in my opinion. Today I found this trailer for the new Ace Combat series – Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and let me tell you, my eyes were as wide and big as they could be while watching it. Just jaw dropping!

What’s so special you ask? At first I kind of expected it to be yet another arcade shooter from the series but as the producer points out in the trailer, this is a “rebirth” of the series because the game play is different now. And I think the difference is why I’m so in love with it. Based on the trailer, you are now interacting with your plane and your enemies closer. When you blow up the enemy fighters with missiles or the machine gun, you will get to see pieces flying off, sort of like the human dismemberment from say, Dead Space or Dead Rising.

    Ace Combat: Assault Horizon FTW

From what I saw in the trailer, looks like you will also get a few slow motion dog fights and being chased by enemies where you actually get to see the enemy chasing after you from the third person camera view. AND, looks like you get to fly and blow things up in a helicopter as well????

I mean, wow, just wow. I was literally wowing for the entire trailer from start to finish. I hope there’s a TBA soon as I will be getting this one first day no doubt. Its been too long for us Ace Combat fans to wait for the next installment for the Ace Combat series.

    Ace Combat: Assault Horizon FTW

Just…..just look at this amazing trailer! I’m sold! LOVE LIVE ACE COMBAT!

  • Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 – AC-130 failed

    Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 - AC-130 failed
So Gametrailers post this “AC-130 Massacre Gameplay” and ironically I think this is a massacre for the game, well at least this AC130 part. Although I am a Call of Duty fan, by all means I am not a fan boy since I do have a fair share of negative feedbacks for it. But let’s not go back there again.

So I was not too impressed with the way you get to rain fire from the AC-130, I didn’t hear any reload at all from its cannon like in the Call of Duty version. That alone was enough for me to say no to this game. The sound effect is just isn’t there, even the ones that I could barely hear weren’t engaging enough. The whole thing resulted in a very boring game play in my opinion.

And as for the actual flight mode where you get to fly other figher jets, well, let’s just say after playing the demo over the weekend, I still prefer the Ace Combat series.

This is from Modern Warfare 2:

  • Vanquish – Will this be another SEGA hit?
    By admin on September 3rd, 2010 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

Bayonetta was good, I personally thought it was much better than Devil May Cry. This week, the demo for SEGA’s upcoming third person shooter Vanquish, was out and I finally had a chance to try it out. First impression, wow, got to love the demo they picked for us. It is the one that Gametrailers has posted before. You get to fight the ginormous robot boss for this demo, which is basically the majority of the demo. I really love that battle suit (forgot the name of it) of the character you are controlling. The gun can morph into 3 different modes – shotgun, heavy machine gun and assault rifle that shoots quicker than the heavy gun. Only complain here is I wish the guns were louder, that’s it.

I love a lot of things about this game, huge boss, huge drop ships for you to shoot in the demo and you can make your character Tom to have a smoke in the middle of a gun fight. What more can you ask for? The third person system is pretty much the same as other ones so regular third person shooters will feel right at home. Remember Max Payne and its bullet time slow mo? Well its also in Vanquish (I’m sure there are other games that have bullet time), only this time you don’t need to fill up any meter to activate it, it will activate as soon as you are about to die, which opens up a few seconds for you to shoot your way out of harm.

The demo didn’t really let me do the power slide move (or maybe I’m just a noob and haven’t figured out how) which I don’t like, it looks kind of weird to be power sliding your way to cover. It reminds me of what soccer players do when they score goals, they do a power slide in front of the fans.

So after playing this short but sweet demo of Vanquish, I’m half sold. The only hold back right now is the fact there is no online component to it as mentioned in Destructoid. So I might actually wait a bit for this one until the price by half or something. I’m thinking of buying Bioshock 2 since the price has dropped to 29.99 and PLUS it has multiplayer, not that I want to play it though.

  • Metal Gear Solid: Rising – Will it better than Devil May Cry and Bayonetta?
By admin on June 14th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

I think I’ve just wet my pants while watching this trailer of the next Metal Gear Solid game, Metal Gear Solid: Rising. This time it won’t be a third person stealth action though and instead be more of a third person action (at least based on the trailer) with my beloved MSG character Raiden slashing the enemies. Raiden is looking cooler than ever, sort of his original look mixed with super saiyan from Dragon Ball series.

Unlike Star Wars: Force Unleashed’s light sabers, Raiden’s blade will actually let you cut or slice up your enemies the way you want. Thank you Konami for actually making this a realistic experience.

I’m all hyped up for this game right now!

  • When Blair Witch mixes with Naughty Bear
By admin on April 17th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

Naughty Bear and Blair Witch Project
Naughty Bear, coming out in June, is generating quite some hype among gamers. So far it has released a few trailers/teasers on Gametrailers.com. I think this one in particular is the best of all. What do you get when you mix The Blair Witch Project with Naughty Bear? You get Bear Witch Trailer. After watching it for the second time, it really made me want to find another copy of the old Blair Witch Project game (I lost my original a long time ago).
