  • I love Lego more than ever!
By on March 12th, 2013 | No Comments Comments

Wow it has been months since my last post on my showerhacks.com blog, I have been extremely busy with work and other activities, like playing video games with services from Elitist gaming. But what happened today convinced me to log back in and make this post. Deep down, I probably feel quilty for not being an active blogger subconsciously.

So I went to purchase the Iron Man™: Extremis™ Sea Port Battle and LEGO® Kingdoms Chess Set for myself and Arctic Batman™ vs. Mr. Freeze™: Aquaman™ on Ice for my friend as a birthday gift from Lego Store. They are having a promotion for any purchase of any Lego Star Wars over $50, an exclusive Republic Frigate will be added to the shopping bag (online and in-store purchase). When I got home that night I notice I have actually purchased way over the required $50 since the Kingdom Chess set cost $60 on its own already but no Republic Frigate was added to my purchase.

So today I emailed Lego through the “Contact Us” and asked what’s going on. The customer service rep replied within hours and explained the promotion only applies to any Lego Star Wars sets, not any sets. But surprisingly he still honored the request and sent me the promotional gift even though it was CLEARLY 100% MY MISTAKE.

I just want to show how much I appreciate what this customer service rep has done for me, one of many Lego fans.

    Thank you again Lego!

  • Free Two-Year Subscription to LEGO Club or LEGO Club ...
By on July 12th, 2012 | No Comments Comments

I just found this from RedFlagDeals that LEGO is offering a free Two-Year Subscription to LEGO Club or LEGO Club Jr. Magazine. I don’t know about you guys but I have signed up for it since I’m a LEGO fan. Although you can read the online version here but I still prefer something physical, call me old school.

I look forward to the first magazine in 4-6 weeks and in the mean time I need to figure out where in my room can I fit another IKEA display shelf to store all the LEGO I’ve built so far.

  • Why can’t they sell real Lego Starcraft?
By on August 31st, 2010 | No Comments Comments

I am still playing Starcraft 2 like crazy, whenever I possibly can. Now that I have found some worthy teammates to team up with instead of taking my chance of paring up with someone “worthy”. My head is full of Starcraft right now, like literally. Then something hit me today, not literally though. I thought to myself, there are official licensed Star Wars Lego models out there, but why not Starcraft 2? I’m pretty sure it will be a hit, at least I will buy them that’s for sure. I’m guessing one of the reasons might be licensing / loyalties all those legal mumble jumble.

But if they did decide to make Lego Starcraft 2, you bet I would be one of the first to get them. Well not the “I will wait in line 2am in the morning” kind of first. Oh you know what I mean.

Google “Lego Starcraft” and you will be amazed by what some people can do with Lego. My god I was mighty impressed. Now if someone could build a 1/8 scale Kerrigan that would be epic!

  • Stunning 22 feet long Lego Yamato battleship
    By on August 12th, 2009 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

One word, stunning, I’m still stunned by the fact that its done in 6 years and 4 months (a bit long), its 22 feet long, 3 feet wide and weighting more than 300 pounds. A Japanese studen has built the legendary Japanese battleship – Yamato. He built it section by section just like real world ship building. The main turrets can turn as well! Talk about attention to detail, I totally didn’t expect him to put motors underneath them.

At the end of the movie trailer, there was the futuristic Yamato battleship from the famous anime as well. This guy is definitely a talent. He is pretty much the best non-professional Lego builder I’ve seen.

  • LEGO Batman review for PSP
    By on September 25th, 2008 | 4 Comments4 Comments Comments

LEGO was part of my childhood, it was and still is an innovative toy. When you combine LEGO with Batman, the result is an extremely addictive game with so many features to keep you from turning off your PSP.

I have never played LEGO Star Wars but I’ve played LEGO Indiana Jones (demo). I think LEGO Indiana Jones is an average game, probably because I am not a huge fan of the series. On the other hand, I’ve always loved Batman series so its only naturally for me to love LEGO Batman as well.

    Story and controls
The story is no brainer, all your well known villains are in this game including Penguin, Poison Ivy, Joker, Riddler, Clayface and Mr.Freeze are here terrorizing Gotham City. Your job obviously is to clean up the mess. The controls are very simple with jump, punch and switch between the two characters etc. Anyone will be able to figure out the controls almost immediately. Tips will show up when you are near key areas so most of the time you will know what to do and how to get to a particular area. Player friendly is one of the reasons why I think this game is worth the money. Auto aim also exists so that your character will punch whatever is breakable (if in range).

    Game play and graphics
As I mentioned the controls are easy to get a hang on, this also makes the game play more enjoyable because you can actually PLAY the game instead of constantly trying to figure out what is what. I assume because the target audience is kids since its rated E for everyone. When you destroy objects, you will get LEGO pieces, those are actually your money that you can spend on upgrading your suits and other “toys”. This greatly increases the replay value of this game because of the unlockable and upgradable items. After the first chapter, you are given either to continue to next chapter or back to the Batcave. Instead of picking continue which will load the next chapter, you can save the game and enter your Batcave.

After finishing the first episode as Batman/Robin, you can then play as Riddler/Clayface by unlocking the option in the Batcave or you can choose to continue with the other two Batman episodes.

The Batcave is amazingly designed with detailed textures (when comparing to PS2 graphics) and the cave is really big separated by different areas. The main area will allow you to pick one of the 3 episodes using one of Batman’s vehicles which are made of LEGO. You can jump from episode to episode and don’t have to play them in order. You can also go back to the mansion and check your trophies from your accomplishments.

Aside from having detailed buildings, the characters all have detailed facial expressions as well which make the cut scenes so much more fun to watch (the cut scenes are hilarious by the way!).

    Sound
The Batman themed music is pretty much from the Batman movies starred Michael Keaton (personally I think he was the best Batman) if not exactly the same. The music is so good that as I’m writing this review, its still in my head playing non stop. But I’m guessing I might get bored of it sooner or later.

    Final verdict
LEGO Batman is a perfect casual game for those looking to kill some time. It might not have online component but the shear amount of unlockables will keep you playing for hours and hours. I also suggest you buy this game for PSP instead of for PS3 and/or XBOX360 because it doesn’t utilize the graphic capabilities of the two next-gen consoles. So there is no point getting it for them but to get it for your PSP and even the DS if you have one. I am sure I have not covered EVERYTHING this game has to offer but I hope this helps those that are planning/thinking about getting this game a bit.

I also want to apologize for the quality of the pictures as I took them using my digital camera while playing the game.

    8/10
