  • Asura’s Wrath Demo Review
By admin on January 10th, 2012 | No Comments Comments

As soon as I heard the demo for Asura’s Wrath was out today, I stopped doing whatever I was doing, turned on my PS3 and downloaded the demo. I was so excited because this is one of those over-the-top games that you don’t see that often. The last one was Bayonetta in my opinion and it was a great game. But unfortunately Capcom’s Asura’s Wrath disappointed me, a lot.

    Asura's Wrath Demo Review

The demo gives you two episodes (5 and 11) to play with and you are controlling the main protagonist Asura. In episode 5 you will fight against a big fat deity (one of many deities in the game) and in episode 11 you will fight against your ex-master. Let me cut it short and tell you that, this game, or at least the demo, is nothing but a combination of button mashing and quick time events. Most of the time you will be clicking or mashing the circle button until your Burst gauge fills up and the scene continues when you release the Burst by pressing R2. There is barely any time where you will actually be playing the demo as an action game. You are basically watching an interactive movie, mind you, a pretty good anime movie to be honest because it reminds me of Dragon Ball Z, one of my childhood all time favorite. But then again, would I buy this interactive anime movie/game for the full $59.99 price tag plus tax? Hell no!

I really hope the full game offers more than what the demo did for me as this is quite disappointing as I have high hopes on this one based on the trailers so far. But if all I did was pressing buttons while watching an anime, this one wouldn’t go well in my opinion.

  • Bayonetta sets a new sexy standard
    By admin on December 7th, 2009 | 5 Comments5 Comments Comments

    Bayonetta
I didn’t have time to check what was new on PSN on the usual Thursday. But when I logged in on Saturday I found two demo games that brought tears to my eyes. One was the violent, funny and bloody as hell Fairytale Fights and the other was another one of the most hyped up action game Bayonetta. The second demo really surprised me as I didn’t expect one in the first place (it is coming out in early January of 2010).

If you have not heard of Bayonetta, something is wrong with you or you are not into games in the action genre. First thing you will notice is the similarity of Bayonetta and the Devil May Cry series since they are both directed by Hideki Kamiya, who also directed Viewtiful Joe, another action game. After playing the demo I personally think Bayonetta beats Devil May Cry in every way.
    Bayonetta

First of all, you are not only wielding one gun, you are wielding 2 in both hands and 2 more as part of Bayonetta’s sexy heels (though you can customize your weapons to your liking). The 4 enchanted guns are called Scarborough Fair, . How cool is having guns as part of the heels? Each weapon has its own attacks and because there are so many different weapons to choose from, you won’t be seeing the same moves over and over again as often as in Devil May Cry or any other button mashing action games, Heavenly Sword is one.
    Bayonetta

Big Bosses! I’m a sucker for big and epic looking bosses. There were two of such bosses in the demo, they were relatively easy to handle. You get to finish them off by summoning “Beasts from Hell”, from her hair and skin-tight suit (where the Partial Nudity in the rating comes from), in bloody ways. Speaking of finishing moves, you can also activate “Torture Attacks” if you have collected enough magic orbs (forgot the proper term). Getting hit will erase some of the magic orbs though so you have to be careful not to get hit.

Overall the game is VERY fast paced, the demo lasted roughly 15 minutes. I actually played again after finishing it the first time. It was that good!
    Bayonetta
Graphics are gorgeous, specially the environment. I occasionally paused, used the right analog stick to just look around and appreciate the sceneries. With such a fast paced game, I did not notice any framerate issue at all.

Music (produced by piano) is also another strong asset for Bayonetta, simply elegant.

I could go on and on with this game but I will leave the rest for you guys to discover. If my girlfriend, who isn’t that into games, actually likes the game as much as I do. Then it is safe to say we have a winner here. Bayonetta isn’t just a looker, but a real deal. With stylish game play, beautiful graphics and backed by elegant music in the background. Bayonetta is a first day must buy, at least for me. If you haven’t played the demo, please do so, chances are you won’t be disappointed!

  • Bayonetta, could be better than Devil May Cry
By admin on June 21st, 2009 | No Comments Comments

So this trailer basically shows off all the (possible?) moves for this upcoming action game. I’m pretty hyped up for it honestly, specially after seeing all these trailers. I mean being able to mount a bazooka on behind each of Bayonetta’s heels is just awesome! The kill combo moves are simply bad ass as well. The fact that you can equip her with different guns and even whips and katanas (at least from the trailers) you can have a lot more combos because you can have different equipment combinations. You can have hand guns in both hands and have bazookas behind both heels OR you can get her to equip bazookas in all four! The combos are just limitless, so to speak. That means you won’t get bored easily with the same moves over and over again.

So for now, in my opinion, Bayonetta looks very promising and I think it looks and plays even better than the all time favorite Devil May Cry. I’m curious to see if I’m right or wrong on this one.

Bayonetta will be out this September. I’m hoping the demo will be out sometime in August?

  • Under Seige – a PSN sleeper?
By admin on June 10th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    Under Seige - PlayStation Network

Found another potential sleeper game, this one is called Under Seige available exclusively for download from the PlayStation Network. Under Seige is an action RTS (real time strategy) game. Though this debut trailer is pretty short, which is just a bit longer than a minute. Given the fact that its a downloadable game, the graphics are surprisingly impressive! Then again, graphics aren’t everything but the little bit of game play shown in the trailer does look pretty intense.

Let’s hope this one is worthy of download when it becomes available in the third quarter of 2009. This is definitely another one to keep an eye on just like the Fat Princess, another action RTS. I personally think that one is even more fun than this!
