  • aliens vs predator

I’ve always wanted to play the original Aliens vs Predator but never, ever got a chance to. I think this time I won’t miss it, I can’t. Not after watching all these promising trailers. I have a strong feeling that this game is going to be worth it. I was right about not getting Dark Void, didn’t even bother trying the demo and I was right. The review from GameTrailers said it all.

Well, why do I think this game is worth buying the very first day? The fact that it has a mix of sci-fi, survival horror and first person shooter is more than enough to convince me. Much like Dead Space, another great sci-fi x survival horror x FPS game. Only this time, instead of playing as human only, you get to play Alien or the Predator as well! I’ve always thought Predator was cool and I still think it (he?) is with its feel-so-over-powering cloaking ability. Sort of the uglier version of Snake from Metal Gear Solid. Well maybe just the stealth part.

Alien on the other hand, is for those who are into quick and heavy melee attacks. I’m guessing the only range attacks are its tail jab and spitting poision from its inner mouth like the Hydralisk from Starcraft?

And finally the human will be for the newbies or you are really a fan of yourself – human. I’m sure each side has its own strengths and weaknesses.

I’m also excited about the single or co-op survival mode (the mode where you find endless waves of enemies), which I expected Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to have. Now finally I get to play this mode without having to buy Call of Duty: World at War. WHen this comes out, I wonder I will still be playing MW2 as much as I have been or will it finally be dethroned.

Aliens vs Predators will be out 2 days after Valentine’s Day, Feb 16th 2010. Which side will you be on?

And boy check out these crazy death moves!

  • StarCraft 2

I’m sure everyone’s all pumped up and excited about the soon-to-be-released StarCraft 2, so while surfing the net, I stumbled upon MTV Multiplayer blog (never knew about this blog to be honest) about what appears, at least to me, to be the release date for this highly anticipated real time strategy game. From the screenshots of a Gamestop pre-order game list provided by Tracey John of MTV, you can clearly see Starcraft 2 with 6/2 to the right (Oh, how I wish it was Feb 6th!).

    StarCraft 2

After that, I went to Gamestop.com to see if I could confirm this finding but with no luck. Although I was able to find StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty from the search result but there was only a price of $49.99 but no release date. Maybe I should go to my local EBGames and ask one of the guys there while I look for a 2nd hand copy of Resident Evil 4 since its such a great game, as I was told.

  • Blizzard has decided to release StarCraft 2 as 3 seperate standalone games to provide the best possible gaming experience to the gamers. The game, or the games rather, will consist of the usual 3 races – Terran, Zerg and Protoss. The first game will be Terrans: Wings of Liberty, as Blizzard’s Rob Pardo stated, the second and third games will be sort of expansions to the first game which are called Zerg: Heart of the Swarm and Protoss: Legacy of the Void.

I still have no idea why and what’s the point of chopping the game into pieces. How will this make the game more enjoyable? I can only see right now that Blizzard can charge the main game 49.99 and then 19.99 for each expansion, in the end you are paying more than you normally would. I can only come up with one possible answer to this, Blizzard wants to fit more content onto each disc. But even if the first game, the non-expansion one, maxed out the entire disc I highly doubt the so called expansion discs will contain as much because otherwise they won’t be expansions.

Update: Oct 14 – So the reason for having a trilogy is because the story is so big it has to be chopped into 3 seperate games. So each one will be $50, in order to get the full story you need to fork out $150+ (due to tax). And chances are if you buy the first, you will want to buy the other two.

  • Speaking of the devil! I recently just wrote something about Halo War’s cinematic trailer from Gametrailers.com that made me drool all over and wish I had an XBox360. Two more game play trailers were released a few hours ago and let’s just say after watching the all impressive cinematic trailer, the actual game play didn’t really live up to my expectation. I mean the graphics are ok, the buildings and vehicles are pretty detailed actually. But the “play” feel is kind of dull and somewhat boring.

I think Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Starcraft 2 are looking more promising than Halo Wars. Maybe some games are just better off to be first person shooter only than a real time strategy game.

    What do you think?

Here are the two game play trailers from Gametrailers.com:
