  • Its been a while since we last saw the trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, or what most people thought was called Metal Gear Solid: Rising. The VGA 2011 showed us another trailer, a more accurate presentation of what the next MG game is going to look like. Based on this latest trailer, its pretty obvious Metal Gear Rising: Reveneance is going to be an over the top action game similar to Bayonetta. This should not come as a surprise since the game is developed by PlatinumGames, the maker of Bayonetta, another over the top action game where you played as a sexy office lady looking witch.

So what’s so special about this button mashing game? First of all, it has Raiden in it and he’s the main protagonist this time. Another major selling point of this game will probably be the ability to slice and dice your enemies with precision as shown in this and one of the very first trailers where Raiden was slicing things into pieces in slow motion. Aside from these, the graphics look amazing! We will need to see more in game trailers before we can find out if there is anything, game mechanics wise, added to this game.

    One of the older trailers:

I’ve read some of the comments from people and how they are complaining about this game is ruining the MGS series. Keep in mind this is not MGS: Rising but Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. To me this is a new series and not a direct continuation of MGS but a branched out one. I believe MGS is done because Snake is probably dead by now with his aging problem. Some are also complaining about its another Devil May Cry / Bayonetta clone, well so what? So therefore game developers should stop making over the top action games that require button mashing then? I have faith in PlatinumGames and Kojima.

I have high hopes for this one and so far it looks like a winner to me. Let’s just hope it comes out next year and not 2013.

  • Oh look what I’ve found, a short but sweet Dead Space 2 game play teaser. Though its only 30 seconds, it’s 30 seconds of sweetness. If I completed the first game 4 times (it was that good!) I hope the sequel will be even better than the first. Don’t let us down EA!

    Enjoy!

  • This survivor mode is going to keep me going and heart pumping for months to come once i get my sweaty hands on it. I wonder if you can only play this mode as humans only as you fight Alien swamps. It sounds weird to fight off a swamp of Predators. Fighting unlimited swamps of humans makes sense though and sounds fun!

Ahh the way the Aliens scream just makes this game 100 times scarier. I’m sold! First day buy!

  • aliens vs predator

I’ve always wanted to play the original Aliens vs Predator but never, ever got a chance to. I think this time I won’t miss it, I can’t. Not after watching all these promising trailers. I have a strong feeling that this game is going to be worth it. I was right about not getting Dark Void, didn’t even bother trying the demo and I was right. The review from GameTrailers said it all.

Well, why do I think this game is worth buying the very first day? The fact that it has a mix of sci-fi, survival horror and first person shooter is more than enough to convince me. Much like Dead Space, another great sci-fi x survival horror x FPS game. Only this time, instead of playing as human only, you get to play Alien or the Predator as well! I’ve always thought Predator was cool and I still think it (he?) is with its feel-so-over-powering cloaking ability. Sort of the uglier version of Snake from Metal Gear Solid. Well maybe just the stealth part.

    aliens vs predator

Alien on the other hand, is for those who are into quick and heavy melee attacks. I’m guessing the only range attacks are its tail jab and spitting poision from its inner mouth like the Hydralisk from Starcraft?

And finally the human will be for the newbies or you are really a fan of yourself – human. I’m sure each side has its own strengths and weaknesses.

I’m also excited about the single or co-op survival mode (the mode where you find endless waves of enemies), which I expected Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to have. Now finally I get to play this mode without having to buy Call of Duty: World at War. WHen this comes out, I wonder I will still be playing MW2 as much as I have been or will it finally be dethroned.

Aliens vs Predators will be out 2 days after Valentine’s Day, Feb 16th 2010. Which side will you be on?

And boy check out these crazy death moves!

  • final fantasy 13 japanese intro
I thought the intro was ok, I mean the graphics are certainly amazing but I was expecting something similiar to the previously shown trailers. Its missing the drama from the rest (its too calm and quiet for my taste, for an intro that is).

Anyway, March 9th 2010 people. Less than 3 months and counting! Or figure out a way to get the Japanese version, but then you won’t know what’s going on with the story. :)

  • I guess as long as Lego continues to exist, which I think it will, there will always be new Lego x “something” game coming out. The latest Lego game – Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 will be released on March 1st 2010. I totally didn’t see this coming, though I should. Which got me thinking, which movie will be next? Transformers will be a nice addition to the Lego game series. Or better yet, Lego Gundams?

    And I mean it!

  • Fat Princess
So I finally gave in, purchased and downloaded Fat Princess off PSN because I’ve been eyeing on this game since it was released. I was excited now that I finally got the game but was it worth it? I have mixed reactions about this game. Definitely not as good as I expected though!

So immediately after downloading and installing Fat Princess, which is basically an action strategy game where there are two sides (red and blue). You can customize your character with different looks and more are unlocked as you progress in the game. The objectives are capturing the princess (capture the flag), death match. There is also a soccer x death match for online as well, this mode is pretty straight forward based on the name. You have 5 classes to choose from – warrior, ranger, healer, dark magician who can drain enemy health and the worker. The workers are necessary, in order to gather wood and minerals to upgrade the different classes’ buildings in order to unlock their upgraded classes. They also responsible for building castle doors and catapults which can launch a group of people to the enemy castle.

I wanted to get a hang of the game first being playing online so I jumped into the single player game and played its rather short storyline which consists of 7 chapters. It was enjoyable most of the time, specially the death matches. There was one chapter that I thought was frustrating, at least playing with the AIs, the ones which you have to rescue your princess.

    Fat Princess

I guess for now AIs are still dumb and cannot act/play like humans. Most of the time I was alone inside enemy castle trying to rescue the princess even though you are allowed to have up to 3 AIs to help you on your side. And most of the time I got killed right on the spot because either the enemy AIs just swamped me or they cake-fed the princess so much I was basically not moving at all, and then swamped by the enemies!

In terms of graphics, its not Killzone 2 graphics obviously, it is pleasing to the eyes, cartoonish with vibrant colors. I think the blood and gory part is one of the major plus for this game. Whenever there is a battle you know there will be blood and body parts every where which is insanely fun to watch as you chop your way to your enemies!

Without going into every single detail of the game, I’m sure this game is worth the $16 (+tax) I paid. I think its a pretty good casual game where you want to jump in when you have 30 minutes to spare. Its not perfectly for sure and hopefully we will see some expansions/add-ons in the near future, free download would be nice!
