One of the most anticipated games of 2009, Modern Warfare 2, will be out on November 10th. Man I have been waiting for the sequel to one of the best first person shooter games to date for both offline and online multiplayer (logged over 30 days worth of hours so far). I have extremely high expectation for Modern Warfare 2 with another great storyline as well as new weapons and strategies.

Based on the trailer just released recently, you can know customize your killstreak loadouts, one of them being able to pilot the AC-130 Gunship! I can’t imagine what other new additions we are getting, perkwise. And finally, I can only assume there will be co-op game plays as well as the ultra-fun zombie survival shoot out. I missed it for World at War because I am not into World War era anymore and I certainly don’t want to miss it again. Its gonna be different killing those undead using modern weapons. Imagine using the Gunship on them!

For now we can only dream……

  • Legit way to get a PlayStation 3 for $99 only
By admin on July 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

This isn’t really “news” since its more than a week old, 10 days to be exact. But this is actually a good way for those that pay their bills with credit cards. Based on cnet.com, you can sign up for a PlayStation Visa card with no-annual-fee (even I want one just for the sake of it being a PlayStation Visa card). Then go into SonyStyle.com and grab yourself an 80GB PlayStation 3 for the original price of $399. In a few weeks, Sony will reimburse you with $100 credit which knocks your PS3 down to $299 instead. And for those who regularly pay their bills using credits, this will be perfect for you. Within a six month period, you can get another $100 reimbursement for every $1500 spent on the PlayStation Visa card, looks like you can only do it twice judging from the original source.

I think this is a pretty good and legit way to get a good deal for a new PlayStation 3, those that pay their mortgage, car lease/finance etc can take this opportunity and get themselves a PlayStation 3 for $99 (plus tax of course). I would but I don’t have a mortgage yet, I’ve paid off my car awhile ago unfortunately and most importantly I’ve already got my 40GB PS3.

  • Holy Invasion Of Privacy Badman – PSP Review
    By admin on July 19th, 2009 | 1 Comment1 Comment Comments

I’ve been eyeing on this game for a long time, the English version is finally available. Holy Invasion Of Privacy Badman is a JRPG style strategy game with 2D sprites. The heavily pixelated characters certainly bring back a lot of old school memories.

The “main” objective of the game is pretty simple, all you have to do is defeat the hero or heroes in every stage that venture into your dungeon. That sounds pretty simple right? But things are as straight forward as we progress to more difficult levels. This game really puts heavy emphasis on “food chain”. Basically the monsters you create needs something called nutrients in order to grow stronger and stay alive (as their health diminshes as time goes by). Another way of growing stronger and staying alive is to devour weaker monsters. This is where the game gets a bit more complex to manage because you cannot just create a huge army and think you can beat the levels, you also have to manage your nutrients and monsters.

Some monsters are better suit for physical attacks, while on the other hand some are for magical attacks. So obviously when you are up against heroes that have strong physical resistence, you will want to create monsters that are strong in magic attacks. I am still trying to get a hang of this “monster-nutrient” managment. You can also create “runes” out of undug blocks which you can summon demos upon. They are relatively more powerful, the more spirit type monster (more below) they consume the more powerful they get. They also give defense bonus to all other monsters as long as they are within the dungeon.

So that’s your objective(s), how do you fail the level? If your overlord gets captured by the heroes and successfully and literally, in a funny way, dragged out of the dungeon then its game over. But you don’t have to give up right away when the heroes found your overlord because you can still kill the heroes as long as they are still in the dungeon. Another obvious tip/hint to prevent your overlord from being dragged away is to position your overlord as deep down the dungeon as possible, again pretty common sense.

You are given a number of digs that you can do to build your dungeon, you can only dig blocks that are adjacent to blocks that have already been dug. There are also blocks that have greenish things in them, those are the nutrients. You can dig up these blocks and get your most basic slime monster will absorb and release nutrients as they navigate through the dungeon. So which brings yet another point, you really have to plan ahead and dig paths that can maximize the number of times these slimes visit each of these blocks with nutrients in them. As these blocks absorb back more nutrients, they will allow you to dig up stronger monsters. These slimies will also turn into flowers and when they blossom, they will pop out more slimies, a good way to mulitiply!

Slimes are for nutrients, there is also mana in this game and the corresponding monster type is the spirit. They pretty much act the same except its for storing/releasing mana. You get to dig these “spirit” blocks after wizard class heroes have cast spells inside your dungeon and these spells get absorbed back into the earth, or the undug blocks.

After finishing each level, you have the option to invest your “dig power” to upgrade your monsters and/or you can choose to keep them and carry them over to your next level. There are also treasure chests lying inside undug blocks as well and so far I’ve got a few skeletons to help out.

In terms of graphics, I can’t stop loving its 2D style graphics. Nothing fancy but suits this type of games. Music is pretty good as well, again nothing fancy but good enough. If you are into managing dungons, into JRPG (or just RPG) and you like to be evil for once, then I highly recommend Holy Invasion Of Privacy Badman to you!

  • MechWarrior – debut trailer
By admin on July 11th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

So a few days ago, I called Sony about my busted PlayStation 3 which is going to cost me nearly $200 Canadian dollars, as per the call centre lady quoted me. Well I guess it is still more than 50% cheaper than getting a brand new 80GB PS3.

Anyway, I saw this trailer and at first I thought it was one of those classic downloadable games (by the way I just purchased Final Fantasy 7 through PlayStation Network, I just couldn’t resist!). So it turns out this is actually a new MechWarrior game, and an impressive one too based on this trailer. The graphics are obviously a lot better than before (well duh), with today’s processing power. There isn’t much to say yet based on this but I see that when you get shot, you actually shake which is pretty realistic given the fact that previous MechWarrior games weren’t like that (if I remember correctly). One thing that bothers me is the fact that in the year 3015, they are still using parachuts when ejecting from your Mech. Ever heard of escape pods?

So far that’s what I got to say about MechWarrior, but will definitely keep my eyes on this one as we seriously and badly need a next-gen-mech type game. Unfortunately it is only available for PC and Xbox 360, why??? Why????

  • Demon’s Souls – now that is what I call a PlayStation 3 exclusive!
By admin on June 27th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

This game has officially made it to my MUST-BUY list, at first I thought it was another somewhat-interesting action RPG game. But these two trailers changed my feelings for this game forever.

As I mentioned Demon’s Souls is an action RPG, what sets this one different from what’s currently out there right now is that it has co-op mode. That’s not all, when you die in a particular area, you can leave notes behind so other players can read what you leave behind so they won’t make the same mistakes you made going through the same area. I find this very original, definitely an interesting and helpful feature.

    Demon's Souls

As for the co-op mode, you can ask up to three more players for help in a given area. You can also be asked to help others. Afterwards you as well as the other three will have the ability to rate each other so other players can pick based on feedbacks. I wonder if there will be any mechanism to prevent losers from abusing the rating system where he/she will give bad ratings to players even though they perform positively.

    Demon's Souls

Another thing that caught my eyes is the huge boss battles in Demon’s Souls, yes I love huge bosses because huge boss battles are just too EPIC to miss these days! It gets even better when you can kick some huge boss ass with three others!

Demon’s Souls will be out exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in the fall of this year. But I still have to get my PS3 fixed asap! This might just be the RPG I need that will last me until Final Fantasy 13 is out.

  • Bayonetta, could be better than Devil May Cry
By admin on June 21st, 2009 | No Comments Comments

So this trailer basically shows off all the (possible?) moves for this upcoming action game. I’m pretty hyped up for it honestly, specially after seeing all these trailers. I mean being able to mount a bazooka on behind each of Bayonetta’s heels is just awesome! The kill combo moves are simply bad ass as well. The fact that you can equip her with different guns and even whips and katanas (at least from the trailers) you can have a lot more combos because you can have different equipment combinations. You can have hand guns in both hands and have bazookas behind both heels OR you can get her to equip bazookas in all four! The combos are just limitless, so to speak. That means you won’t get bored easily with the same moves over and over again.

So for now, in my opinion, Bayonetta looks very promising and I think it looks and plays even better than the all time favorite Devil May Cry. I’m curious to see if I’m right or wrong on this one.

Bayonetta will be out this September. I’m hoping the demo will be out sometime in August?

  • Under Seige – a PSN sleeper?
By admin on June 10th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    Under Seige - PlayStation Network

Found another potential sleeper game, this one is called Under Seige available exclusively for download from the PlayStation Network. Under Seige is an action RTS (real time strategy) game. Though this debut trailer is pretty short, which is just a bit longer than a minute. Given the fact that its a downloadable game, the graphics are surprisingly impressive! Then again, graphics aren’t everything but the little bit of game play shown in the trailer does look pretty intense.

Let’s hope this one is worthy of download when it becomes available in the third quarter of 2009. This is definitely another one to keep an eye on just like the Fat Princess, another action RTS. I personally think that one is even more fun than this!
