  • Muramasa: The Demon Blade – Now that’s what I call a game
    By admin on March 31st, 2009 | 2 Comments2 Comments Comments

I was going to post this yesterday but I got lazy. I have yet to see any worthy Wii games after the ultra violent MadWorld was released more than 2 weeks ago. Not that it matters much since I don’t atually own a Wii, then this game popped out of no where and I was really amazed. And this is what I call a game, not that Yu-Gi-Oh Wheelie junk that I found out a few weeks ago. Wii deserves better games than that and many other garbage Wii games.

This game looks amazing, it is sort of 2.5D, not quite 3D. The characters are 2D sprites I believe but are very vibrant and nothing cheesy. The backgrounds are animated as well. Finally, I think the huge boss battles are going to make the game even more fun.

I’m curious as to how the controls are done, I’m guessing the nunchuk is going to be your directional control and your motion sensing Wiimote will let you slash your ways through enemies. It is going to be some exercise for you Wii owners out there.

I can only hope it will be ported over to the PlayStation 3 or the PSP. I can only hope!

As usual, enjoy the trailer from Gametrailers

  • Batman: Arkham Asylum – Looks really promising!
By admin on March 28th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

I have been a Batman fan for as long as I can remember. There hasn’t been a single Batman related game released ever since PlayStation 3 and xBox 360 came out, as far as I can remember. But the wait is almost over because based on EBGames, Batman: Arkham Asylum will be released on June 9th, less than 3 months from now.

To me, after Metal Gear Solid, Batman: Arkham Asylum should be another action + stealth game worth buying. If you have spare change in your wallet, you should also consider getting the collector’s edition because it comes with so much goodies such as: (taken from EBGames)

    - Waynetech Batarang Storage Box
    - 12” In-Game Design Batarang (stand attached)
    - Dr Young’s Journal (50 page full color character encyclopedia)
    - 2 Sleeve DIGI-Pack Including:
         - Game
         - Behind the scenes 5 chapter series DVD, including:
         - Interviews with Mark Hammil and Kevin Conroy
    - Exclusive Collector’s Edition Challenge Map DLC
    - Manual

As you can see you get a lot more than what you would normally get from other collector’s edition games, for a price of $99.99. For once I am really tempted to get a collector’s edition game, I mean you get a Batarang! Notice it also comes with an exclusive DLC map? I can only guess there will be more DLC maps available in the future.

Less not forget the game also has some impressive graphics, got to love the highly detailed Batman cape, body armor and the awesome looking Batmobile. Anyway, enjoy this Challenge Room trailer from Gametrailers.

  • Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 release on April 21st 2009

    Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2

I actually didn’t know there was a sequel to Dynasty Warriors: Gundam that was released more than a year ago. At the time I was really excited about the game when the PS3 just came out. After I got my PS3 a year later, I downloaded the demo of Dynasty Warriors: Gundam on PSN as soon as I was connected to PSN. It didn’t take me long, roughly 10 minutes, for me to find out Dynasty Warriors: Gundam was pretty bad. It was nothing compare to the original Dynasty Warriors series. As much as I LOVE the Gundam series, that game was a major disappointment.

    Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2

Anyway back to Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2, I’ve decided to check out EBGames tonight and this game was, and still is, listed as Daily Deal with free overnight shipping (15.5 hours left from the time this is posted). So I went to Gametrailers for some in-game trailers because I didn’t remember seeing any of them at all.

    Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2

This one is the most recent one posted December of last year, I have no idea how I missed it. I’m still not sure about the graphics and the game play. I mean this time it has Strike Freedom and F91, my two all time favorite, but the fighting style just looks….boring. Again, comparing to the original Dynasty Warrior where human fights another human, or a fleet of them rather, I would still prefer the human version of Dynasty Warriors. Also, there’s no background music at all, I’m not sure if its because its only a trailer, I hope that is the case otherwise the lack of music is going to make the game even more boring. It just think its weird to have robots to fight like human, its just not the same as the human Dynasty Warrior.

Let’s see if there is a demo for it then I will know if its good or not.

  • What are drivers?
By admin on March 25th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

In the world of computers, drivers are very important tools that let your hardware connect or function in conjunction with the operating system that you are using. A device driver or software driver is a computer program that acts as a gate keeper in letting your hardware or program function accordingly. Remember that drivers are hardware-dependent and operating-system-specific meaning certain drivers will only work with a specific hardware and a specific operating system.

Most problems that you incur when you are using drivers is when you upgrade your operating system or software. You will sometimes see that many of the hardware that you are using will not be working properly. Your printer for example, will ask you to insert a CD driver so that you can have it working properly. With out the CD driver, your printer will be useless since your operating system will not recognize the printer.

This is why sites that offer free drivers are important to computer users. They provide a one stop shop of the different drivers that you need when you want your hardware to function properly. No need to keep different CDs. Just surf the internet and type what kind of driver that you want and you can download with ease.

  • File extension sig is important
By admin on March 25th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Just how important is your file extension sig? When you install and uninstall software, hardware or drivers, you will notice that you will inevitably leave different remnants of your files behind in your registry.

As time goes by, the remnants of these files will accumulate and will ultimately slow down your computer speed. However, it is not only your computer speed that will suffer as time passes and the many remnants accumulate. Some of the more serious problems that you will incur include your computer not recognizing file extensions, freezing, programs not responding, and system crashes.

There are two basic .SIG file extensions that represent the different file formats are text signature or e-mail signature files and image based signature files. The text based file formats have file extension sig that you can use to add various information to your text files. The second type of file format with a .SIG extension is an image based file that you can use as opposed to using text as your .SIG file. And while this feature is more appealing to some, one drawback of using images as .SIG files is that some platforms do not support such file formats.

  • Potential release date for StarCraft 2 – June 2nd 2009?
    By admin on March 17th, 2009 | 3 Comments3 Comments Comments

    StarCraft 2

I’m sure everyone’s all pumped up and excited about the soon-to-be-released StarCraft 2, so while surfing the net, I stumbled upon MTV Multiplayer blog (never knew about this blog to be honest) about what appears, at least to me, to be the release date for this highly anticipated real time strategy game. From the screenshots of a Gamestop pre-order game list provided by Tracey John of MTV, you can clearly see Starcraft 2 with 6/2 to the right (Oh, how I wish it was Feb 6th!).

    StarCraft 2

After that, I went to Gamestop.com to see if I could confirm this finding but with no luck. Although I was able to find StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty from the search result but there was only a price of $49.99 but no release date. Maybe I should go to my local EBGames and ask one of the guys there while I look for a 2nd hand copy of Resident Evil 4 since its such a great game, as I was told.

  • The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena – demo review

After watching all the trailers of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena from Gametrailers.com I was really impressed by the game and without hesitation, I downloaded the demo on PlayStation Network tonight. And after playing the rather short demo, I was left with a huge disappointment. Maybe its just me but this game for sure isn’t for me.

The weapons, specifically the guns, look basic to me, although the clip-popping-reload is pretty awesome to watch every time you reload.

While this game supports 1080p full HD and I do have to say the ship’s interior, lighting as well as character’s facial details are all impressive, I give them that. But during the demo I noticed Riddick had jagged shoulders as oppose to smooth round ones. As I said the lighting is great but Riddick’s shadow was way too sharp in my opinion, I would think shadows would be a little blurry.

    chronicles-of-riddick-assault-on-dark-athena

You get 4 blocks of health but I don’t like the fact that once you completely deplete one or more blocks, even if you rest, you won’t gain back the lost blocks. So say you lost two and a half blocks of health, even if you rested you would only regain the half block’s health and you would have 2 blocks all together. I also don’t understand why when you die, which is rather easy because of the way you heal, I once died and when I restarted from the checkpoint, I was left with 1 block of health. After dying for a couple more times, I got 2 blocks of health instead. Why is that? Isn’t it common sense that you restart with full health?

The stealth feature is “ok” but no where near Metal Gear Solid level. Finally I also don’t like the iPod-styled weapon select screen where you select weapons by rotating the right analog stick which I found a bit too unresponsive.

All and all, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena might not live up to the hype it has generated thus far. I guess download the demo and see for yourselves. I know this game isn’t for me, I’m pretty sure.
