Fake iPhone….from China – tear it down!
-
I found this on Tech-On! and they had tear down a fake iPhone made from, you guessed right, China! I’m Chinese and I feel really embarrased for all these copy cat electronics and not just electronics, practically anything China can and will copy if there’s a market for it.
As explained in the said story, it is a lot easier to break the fake iPhone, or the ciPhone as they called it and the internal parts are all simplified as to cut down the manufacturing cost obviously. Based on looking at the image from the article, even the size is different with the fake one slightly longer but then again it won’t be noticeable unless you put it side by side with the real iPhone. Looking closely you can also see the text at the back of the phones are different as well.
In terms of hardware, the chip used in the fake iPhone “is widely used for general no-name mobile phones in China and it costs about US$6 per set”. An engineer from Tech-On! estimated that the total manufacturing cost is “roughly ¥3,000 to 5,000″ and is sold for ¥16,000 a pop (approx US$170), that’s at least ¥11,000 in profit!
The article also reported the “slow response” from the touch panel which isn’t a surprise really given that the fake phone uses a generic low cost chip.

It’s a disgrace to the Chinese race!, I mean, I’m also a Chinese and I also agree about the fact that it is just plain stupid that they make fake equipment from big named items…..

Do the Chinese really like fake stuff or do they not know any better. Some of these knock-offs are expensive. I would imagine someone who can afford an expensive knock-off would have internet access and know what’s going on in the gadget world especially with sites like engadget.com.

they dont like fake stuff but they just dont spend their money like idiots..
and they also export their goods to poor countries so ppl can enjoy slightly same feature at a low cost

While I don’t deny Chinese as being smart and hardworking, they should really focus their skills and talents on creating/designing something original not just copy and repulicate others. If they have the brain to copy I’m sure they have the brain to create something new as well.

Well, I wish I had ready this before wasting over $1000 of my money in China. All branded electronics from China are fakes/replicas. Including the software.

Real or Fake, innovation or immitation, what ever you want to call it they are all man’s made. The point is, who are the markets, why they like fake not real one, why they like copy cut? Maybe a life style or cost cutting..What ever it is, is a man’s choice and we should respect for it.

I think all of you people mist the point here, I for one buy china fake electronics and some of them are pretty close to the real thing and the whole point is they cost a fraction of the price so thank you china for not making us pay a premium for a logo some company task on and charge up to 10 time the manufacturing price, don’t believe? Go check out there tablets, fully functioning 10 inch tablet running android 2.2 with marketplace for 200$ were else would you find this at that price if not for china, so the verdicts viva el china forever
